It’s important to stay informed, which is why the AWCI has launched its first national publication “On the Surface”. Finally industry issues and topics throughout Australia are bought to the fore within one nation wide publication.
A major milestone of the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries of Australia and New Zealand (AWCI), this magazine will improve on the “On the Surface” of the past which was a smaller state-based publication. The focus will be on the practicalities, materials, techniques and processes that apply to those operating in our industry.
The idea and concept research came from the US-based Association of Wall and Ceiling Industry and the Ceilings and Interior Systems Construction Association, both of which have excellent regular magazines. The London-based Federation of Plastering and Drywall Contractors too has its own magazine.
The first edition which launched in March covered a range of important issues including Levels of Finish, Profiles in Plaster, ATO Draft Ruling, Quality Assured Fire Rated Lining Systems, Expansion Joints and range of other important industry related stories.
Future editions will continue to give practical information and coverage of the matters that have an effect on our sector. That may range from AWCI initiative, events, new technology, government regulations, changes to Australian Standards, OH&S regulations, new membership benefits, developing overseas trends and general information about the AWCI.
We are personally looking forward to the newest edition of “On the Surface” due out in July 2009.
